Spartan Low Light/No Light

Spartan Low Light/No Light course is designed to give the beginner with full understanding of proper handgun/rifle fundamentals with prior formal training, intermediate or advanced shooter the proper deployment fundamentals with a handheld and weapon mounted light to execute in a real-world self-defense manner.  Starting with “mindset, what that truly means for real world encounters, focusing on proper deployment of white light for positive threat(s) identification and deterrent are the most important aspects of low light/no light under heighten stress, and teaches shooters how to get the most out of their training.   

Prerequisite Requirements:

Spartan Handgun/Rifle 101 or similar course.  Student needs to display basic proficiency with their handgun/rifle.

  • Tactical reload/Speed reload drills 
  • Reactive movement drills
  • Scanning your area drills under low light
  • Shooting on the move drills 
  • Malfunction drills under low light 
  • One-hand shooting (Strong side/Support side)  
  • Target/Threat identification drills

GEAR LIST


Students provide their own ammo: 350-500 pistol/rifle rounds minimum.


Firearms – A functional handgun chambered in .380, 9mm, .40 cal, .357 sig, or .45 ACP.  A functional carbine chambered in 5.56×45, 5.45×39, 7.62×39, 300 Blackout. 


A secondary spare weapon(s) system is highly encouraged but not mandatory. A cleaning kit and proper tools that are compatible with the weapon system(s) the shooter has is also a must. Each student should have a minimum of 3-5 working magazines, handheld light(s), weapon mounted light(s).   

  • Note pad, and pen/pencil
  • Attire suited for outdoor activity as well as being seasonally appropriate
  • Athletic footwear for outdoor training (No sandals, slip-ons, or open toe shoes)
  • Rain gear / cold weather gear (seasonal)
  • Ear pro (electronic preferred) / Eye pro/ Prescription glasses are acceptable
  • Baseball style hat (recommended)
  • bug spray
  • Tools that work on your weapon
  • A holster and magazine pouch that will properly retain equipment (Chest rigs, outer carriers, battle belts are not mandatory) Do not go out and buy these items just for this course. 
  • Weapons lube
  • Water hydrating device/Snacks
  • Knee and elbow pads (optional)
  • Gloves (optional)
  • Spare batteries for lights
